(1 hour away) Ancenis stands on the banks of the Loire, on a shale hill that was once an island in the river, midway between Nantes and Angers. It has an ancient tradition of fishing and of creating delicious dishes.

Be sure to taste the pike in white butter sauce, accompanied by a glass of Malvoisie (malmsey wine). Visit some of the local wine makers to try some of the local Muscadet from the slopes of the Loire, a Gros-plant of the Nantes district, a Cabernet and Malvoisie (malmsey), the smooth wine from pinot gris rootstock that is exclusive to the Ancenis region.
